Who is Big Ernie?

The idea for Big Ernie was conceived in a creative session by Galbreath’s advertising team. It was the team’s desire to convey the message of Galbreath’s commitment to helping waste haulers do their jobs easier, faster, safer, and more profitably.

Waste haulers provide a vital service that significantly impact our home towns. They begin their workday before dawn, drive countless miles, and endure inclement weather in service to communities across America. Often unappreciated and unnoticed, their presence contributes to the quality of our lives.

In developing the Big Ernie character, he became a composite of all the qualities that make the neighborhood "garbage guy" so good at his/her job – traits such as dedication and friendliness. Big Ernie’s good-natured sidekick Kenny, in his own fumbling way, is also dedicated to his job and learns how to serve his customers better under Big Ernie’s patient guidance.

Since Big Ernie has been received so positively, Galbreath has now decided to use him to help our customers. Big Ernie will be acting as our on-line assistant.
